Nothing on the COW agenda about the rfp / intent to outsource office personnel. Maybe they matched the savings with concessions.

Did you ever stop to think that the parents are incompetent? If the parents would stop bitching about the teachers/coaches/taxes and start interacting with their kids, then we would see vast improvement in the education process.

Bubba, the point is, we can drop that Principal position. Look at the newspaper, she has time to run around the track all week, doesn't that tell you that she has extra time on her hands? She's a runner, let her run! Let Handler and Potteiger cober the IS while she is at DT.

Too bad the majority of the programs you listed are ineffective due to incompetent administrators and teachers.

We have been working on improving the quality of education at Brandywine.  We have the summer reading program, extended school year, homebound, charter, tutoring, reading and english in the middle school upper grades, new curriculum, new books, new software, new hardware, Project lead the way, reduction in class size in the lower grades, ongoing assessments and dedicated staff.  How can you imply nothing has been done do improve the quality of the District?

How long are you going to whine about the past? You've got your schools closed so now how about starting to get back to what is real important and what you've been neglecting: Improving education in the district.

If you looked at the population of the various grades you really couldn't shut them don't back when the HS was built without over crowding.  The population was approaching 2,100.

Re: New Administrator

There would be an assistant that could be in one of the schools while the principal is in the other one.  Manpower if used can also help with issues. It will be a great day as we we transition together.

Re: New Administrator

Maybe it was all those extra "buildings" free principals that put us in this financial debacle in the first place.  I mean really when they built the new High School, that was the time to shutter those extras down not 7 to 8 years later. What did we think was going to happen. Before you trash this post, think about it.  Where we were and where we are..

No worries with a principal free building. The Manpower staff (if used) will be certain to be able to handle it!

Re: New Administrator

No fuss. Just heard for years how closing the elementary schools woud put a stop to principals trying to be in two buildings at one time. Now after one year it's better to go back to that. Why? Explain why it's a good idea to have a principal free building. How this is a better scenario?

Re: New Administrator

One of the beauties of the new configuration is balancing class sizes and the flexibility to move teachers as necessary. Much easier than it used to be. K-5 will still be separate from the MS.  Why the fuss?

Re: New Administrator

Its a different board facing different situations. Plus the deal was not to keep the Middle School and Inter. school separate.  Seems like a more flexible arrangement with one principal able to switch teachers around as they are needed and have better continuity for K-5.

And going back on their word of keeping the two schools administrations separate. One year is all their word was good for. Got a board and super whose word means nothing. While generally not a "fan" of his, I applaud John Sheetz for realizing this with his no vote.

Re: New Administrator

So it appears we are going to keep the all day Kindergarten and no major program cuts.  That could be good news - yet , it is only a matter of time. We may be saving programs for another year then what?  With the pension costs all but doubling next year, how can we continue "status quo" ?? Wouldn't it make sense to curtail a little each year rather than BAM all at once.

It isn't "another" admin. One person left and they are hiring a replacement.
