Can someone tell me who picks the blast coaches.  Politics are getting way out of hand.   This is bad.   They need to go!   The only ones who don't think this are the parents who suck up to them!

My kid went through this whole "Blast Process", back in the day (he just graduated from college this year). What a crock of horsesh*t... I feel for you, Mom or Dad. If you played at Brandywine, your kids are "in"...they just look at the last name and the rest just falls into place. The reason they're trashing your post or giving it a thumbs down is because they know it's true. It's politics as usual...it's how they roll. They work @ Deca, get out at 3 and devote their every waking minute to making their kid the star. I used to sing Springsteen's "Glory Days' sometimes because  the way they lived vicariously through their kids was so disgusting amd obvious. So glad we're done with that. Alloure kids are grown. And before all you nay-sayers ask me why didn't I coach if I thought I could do it so much better and fairer?....trust me, I tried. But the good-ole boys network didn't want me there, despite the fact that I had collegiate baseball experience. I was an outsider, and my assistance was not needed or welcomed. So, my advice to you... Stay positive...this too shall pass...

I will get blamed for a comment abt blast coaches but honestly that wasnt me. As for "been there, done that"...we are going thru that right now! It's really sad. This team has talent but certain kids, ones not from Brandywine dont get to shine. And appartantly the way I think is correct bc it's been happening for at least the past 10 yrs, according to your post! What I dont understand is that they take pride in these pins they trade and not the way the play ball on the fields in Cooperstown. I dont mean any desrepect to anyone as a person, i am just stating my feelings. There are way too many egos, parents included. And the way the kids talk abt each other, holy cow. It's sad. Just let them play and have equal playing time on the fields, it's only fair. Let's take some pride in this boys, or don't they have pride here.

Our Blast coaches are selected  from those that actually apply- and - wait for it- are actually qualified. The current Blast coach has more baseball knowledge than most of us in this County! Politics play no role in how his team was selected or how they play.It is about the team and getting the most out of our players! Get your mind above the rhetoric and look at how the actual team performs. We can compete with much larger school districts and travel teams! We finished very well this season. What are you looking for?

Yeah the coach has more knowledge of crap!! He'll be back next year cuz he has another kid coming up who will make the team. It's all about friends and kissing but hopefully when these kids play middle school ball and they are the kids sitting on the bench they know how it feels cuz there daddys arent coaching and on the board!!!!!!

Last time I checked the coaches son is one of the better kids on that team.   Perhaps it is your kid who has no talent/less talent?   What boy sits the bench they all get equal playing time?  I wonder if you have ever helped coach or even assisted in coaching, maybe you could give some of your time like these coaches/board do.   People complain maybe if you cared about the big picture instead of just your little "Johnny" you'd wouldn't hide behind these posts.  Grow up.

first of all I don't mention kids names on here. I never said my child is a superstar but equal playing time for the kids, expecially when my child was asked to be at tryouts, what a crock of horse#*^% that was....And if you come to a Blast game you would see who sits the bench for 4 innings when all the other kids play the entire game, or at least, most of it.  I never said the coach didnt have knowledge of the sport, but as for being the most talented in the County, you wanna check stats on that one? Oh and the bes move I have seen is, when pulling a pitcher, moving him to another position on  the field, rather than him sitting and resting. Classic!!

First let me say that I do not know anything about this year's Blast team, but my son played on the Blast 2 years ago. He also played on the travel teams the three years prior to being on the Blast.
The teams have a hugh political bias. The coaches kids will play most if not all of the games. We had 13 players and 5 sat evey game for 4 innings. The assitant coaches kid (who does not have a brain) would play every inning even though he could be counted on to have at least one error per game. Players with much better fielding skills would sit.
The same thing happened in middle school because of the close connections between the various coaches. Several players have quit/ not tried out for the team because of the politics. This is the problem with most of the sports in the Brandywine area. You must break into the old boys network to get playing time.

And if you think Blast was bad...did anyone check out junior legion...now there's a coach for you (oh yea - he's the "asst." coach).  When is he going to walk away before he completely ruins baseball in this town??????

I understand that the players don't have the same abilities. But when a coaches kid makes 5 - 6 errors, but continues to get to play the entire game over other players with equal abilites just because he is the coaches kid. If it was another player, they are benched which takes away their cofidence enforcing the quitting mentality. I will continue to say that this kid does not have a brain when he's playing at third base with a runner on first and second on a simple ground ball to him, he just needs to tag third base, but throws the ball away at first.  He needs to know the situation --i.e. use his brain to analyze which play to make.

The kid is on the middle school team and junior legion team. He still makes the same bone-headed errors. He gets away with it because of his name. The politics of sports in this town are outragious. It is not just in baseball.

My son made the decision to play another sport, and he is happy in his decision. I am not against having team members that sit on the bench, but the when you see players with better ability sit, it reaks of politics.

It's politics in every level of Brandywine baseball not just the Blast.  You have it at the younger levels too.  Those teams are all board members boys.  So, if you want your kid to play no matter how good or bad be sure you run for an office.  That allows you to coach and take your kid(s) with you.

I'd like to offer a different perspective, if you will.  I don't coach, heck, I don't even go to the games half of the time.  Yet our kid has played at every level of sport and has primarily been a starter.  Neither the wife or I are from the area, but our kid plays anyway.  One of the things that we will not do is criticize the coachs, or speak to the coaches on our kids behalf.  We say, "great job Coach, thank you for your service."

When I was a kid, if your parents came to a game, you figured you were in trouble.  Our games were for us, and when we complained to our parents about the coach or playing time, we were told that if you want to play more, practice and get better.  And that was that.

Our kid practices his game and has played on several different teams and attends clinics.  He's a good ball player, not great, but good.  We told him a long time ago to fight his own battles, because we were not going to do it for him.  It's his life, his desire to play ball and if he wants it, he has to work hard to get it.  So he does.  It is a life lesson, if you want to achieve something, you have to work for it.  Children are never too young to be taught that important lesson.

As far as politics go, show me a youth program anywhere in the country that does not have politics!  Of course the coaches kid plays, and of course he may not be as good as some of the other kids, that's why his dad is a coach. However, the coach is out there every day with your kid when you are not, so if his kid gets more playing time, so be it.  Don't be a whining baby about it.  There are 13 or so kids on a roster, 9 players on the field and there is 1 coach and a couple of assistant coachs (who are also there for their kid).  That still leaves plenty of open spots for other kids.  If your kid isn't playing, tell him to step up his game and win the spot, or stop complaining.  Don't fight his battles, provide him with the tools to fight his own battles.

Our philosophy in parenting is to raise independent kids who think for themselves and learn how to do for themselves at an early age.  Instead of complaining about the coaching, how about challenging your child to work hard at getting better?  Coaches will never sit a kid who is an objectively solid player.  It's more likely that the parents have a biased viewpoint of their own kid's ability.

Finally, it is also a life lesson for a kid to have to deal with a jackass coach or a jackass teacher.  Kids need to understand that you will have to deal with a lot of jackasses in your life.  When your kid complains about the jackass (and we have more than our share around here) just give them advice as to how to deal with them or tell them to suck it up.  Life is measured in not what we do, but how we deal with adversity.

Wow, a remarkable amount of venom out there over youth baseball in the area. Imagine if some of you folks put this much time and effort into supporting all the kids directly instead of tearing down what is being done for the kids? I honestly have never thought it necessary to respond to anything out here on this site, but I know from direct experience that some of these comments are so ridiculous that I just have to add yet another perspective. My background – I’m older (some might even say OLD), have had the pleasure of enjoying BYBA youth games in Topton for years. I coached, played, and umpired a long time ago, but now prefer to watch the kids play. I’ve had the chance to see the Blast team play, along with some of the other in-house leagues. And yes, I even watch the occasional tee-ball game. I’m old enough to remember back in the 90s when Brandywine first started playing Diamond League baseball. It’s been a very good league for Brandywine and has clearly help feed and turn around a high school baseball program that was pretty pathetic most years before 2002 or 2003. I’ve had the chance to watch a few Blast games over the years, but I’ll focus on the 2010 season. I’ve seen 4 games this year in Topton, including a game Sunday afternoon. During the games I’ve watched, I see a team that improved a lot from earlier in the season. I see coaches who seem encouraging and knowledgeable of the game. I saw a coach who batted his entire lineup in a playoff game the team needed to win, meaning every one of the kids on the team was in the game – the team from Muhlenberg didn’t do that. I saw a group of guys jumping and hugging each other after a big win against a good team yesterday. They certainly looked like a team to me. The game was played at a very high level by both teams – both were well-coached and well-prepared. And let’s keep in mind – it is a GAME these boys play. But since I’m not close to the team or worried about the ‘politics’ of the team, let me tell what else I saw at a couple games. I saw several small groups of parents who cheered, but only for certain kids. I heard one person using extremely bad language directed at 11 and 12 year-old kids. That’s bad enough, but it’s completely inappropriate with all the younger kids attending the game. Then there are parents complaining that the kids say rude things to each other? I wonder where the kids would ever get an idea like that? So the underlying complaint here is that these travel teams are all about the ‘politics’? Well, sometimes ‘politics’ probably does exist, and sometimes it’s probably just an excuse. I did do a little checking about the Blast team and the coach for this year’s team. It seems to me that if everyone was unhappy with the coach, someone else might have tried to step up and coach the team in 2010 – but there were no other candidates for the job other than the coach who’s doing it. I found out that the head coach doesn’t choose the team – but it’s done by a group of evaluators. That sounds pretty reasonable to me. And I don’t know anything about the assistant coaches, but if they are helpful, positive, know the game, and can benefit all the kids, why wouldn’t they be asked to help? If they are on the Board or parents, so be it. Maybe more parents need to be more active in the entire process – not just show up for games and then complain anonymously online. And just for arguments sake – if I was a coach and I was down to the last player to select for my team…. If the kids are of equal ability, but one kid has supportive parents who are going to help at practice and work the concession stand – and the other kid has parents who have a history of being difficult to coaches and won’t lift a finger to help the team, guess which kid I’m taking for the team?? So parents, maybe you can take a look in the mirror regarding this entire ‘political’ excuse that’s being spewed out here. The truth is, whether it’s youth baseball, youth soccer, youth wrestling, the band, cheering, swim team, or whatever. Our kids need to work for what they want to accomplish. We’ve all had road-blocks thrown at us over the years, and we’re probably stronger for them. If you have a son on one of these travel baseball teams, they might need to work harder to get the coach’s attention. When they get older, they’ll probably need to work harder to get their boss’s attention, too. It’s life. And one thing I can absolutely guarantee some of you – especially those of you saying you can’t wait until your kids get to Middle School and High School teams to get away from the ‘politics’? There are no minimum playing opportunities on those teams like they have with the BYBA travel teams. The boys will have to work even harder to get their chances on those teams. Those teams might be less political (because they don’t have parents coaching), but they are also more about winning.

Blame the coaching for the dismal playoff game.when you have the 3 best players sitting the bench that is a bad coaching decision. If you pull a player from one position that he clearly is messing up on and and put him in a position that takes out a good player bad coaching decision. when you have a kid that plays every inning because he is coaches kid bad coaching decision. have been witness to this many times and IT SUCKS! bad coaching decisions and bad playing cost this team a shot at the championship. thanks coaches

The solution is simple:
Have outside representatives (ie, maybe a few HS boys from a school on the other side of the county) pick the "elite" teams in this district. Then interview applicants for the coaching position, after the boys are picked. I am sure some of our HS boys know other boys on other teams?! I think that would be an honor if I was chosen to judge and pick a little league team to play "elite" ball. And the kicker would be, let the mothers run the "tryouts".

You're right. I expect that First Energy Stadium might be available a few nights for additional practices. Since most of you seem to know at 12 years-old who the professional players are anyway, it'll be good to expose them to a professional field - would maybe 2-3 times per week at FE be enough for you? That should give them about 12 practices per week. Along with games and tournaments, that should whip those boys into shape.

Holy cow, do some of you folks need to do a reality check. Do you even realize how many of you contradict each other while complaining? Why is that? Maybe because you look at a situation from one angle – yours? Heck, some of you even contradict yourselves in the same posting. Let’s take a step back and figure out what would be a ‘perfect’ solution to our youth baseball coaching. I’ll even focus just on the Blast team, although this would be true for the 8 year-olds, the 10 year-olds, the 10 year-old tournament team, the 12 year-olds, the 12 year-old tournament team, Jr Legion, Babe Ruth, etc. Some of you seem real stuck on the idea that a parent is coaching. Some of you are real stuck on the idea that the kids of Board members are on the team. Some of you just seem like you’d complain about most anything. Let me ask a question…. How many non-parent, non-relative, non-Board member, QUALIFIED coaches do we have roaming around Topton? And if the BYBA could find even one or two people that meet that criteria, why would that person EVER want to coach a team whose parents and neighbors treat a coach with the ridiculous disrespect many of you people do? It’s a VOLUNTEER position, and based on the comments here on this site, you probably couldn’t pay most people enough to put up with the headaches. Year after year, the BYBA is always in need of coaches. They need people to step forward to coach so the kids can play baseball. A very large majority of the time, those coaches are parents. The BYBA also needs many, many volunteers to handle things like uniforms and fund-raising tournaments and equipment and fields, etc. A very large majority of the time, those volunteers are parents. Those volunteer ‘opportunities’ are open to just about anyone with kids in the organization. If a job prevents a person from being a head coach, they can probably find time to help with ordering uniforms or working on the fields. There’s plenty of need to go around. But for so many of you people to sit back in your folding chair or your sofa and anonymously criticize the manager, the coaching staff, and even the players on a 12 year-old baseball team is beyond amazing. And the contradictions are astounding. Some of you complain that the coach plays the best players all the time – but someone complained because the best players sat at some point. Which should it be?? Some of you complain that there’s not fair playing time on the team – but others complain that the team didn’t do everything they could to win a championship. Some of you complain that only the coaches’ kids play all the time? What are there, 3 or 4 coaches? Unless all the coaches have twins or triplets on the team, it seems to me a large majority of the kids on the roster belong to non-coaches and probably even non-Board members. How does that argument have any merit? The truth is, it doesn’t have any merit. I feel bad for these coaches, but mostly, I feel bad for the kids on this team. Normally, you would think a community would be supportive of our young kids, especially those who represent Brandywine all around the county. But some people have such a sense of entitlement and are so disrespectful. I wish all the kids on the Blast nothing but the best for the rest of their season. I hope the kids won’t let the adults get in the way of their fun and development on the baseball field. As someone else said here, this is still just a game.

No the coach was not the one hitting the balls and making the plays on that team, but I bet he has well rounded practices and that's why those kids are league champs and will most likley be playoff champs also. Structure is the key word here. Wonder if they go to Cooperstown and how well they would do?

So do you want to win games or have equal playing time for all the kids.  Can't really do both, at some point a competitive team has to give up the equal playing time stuff.  Sounds like this team just  ran out of pitching.  They got beat by a bigger school with more talent to choose from.  GET USED TO IT!!!!!  Brandywine will never have the number of pitchers the Larger Schools have.  The High School made the State Semi-finals in 2007 and won States in 2008 having only 2 real pitchers.
For those who are unhappy with this years results, Please Stop typing!  Go out and throw and hit with your sons.  I drive by the fields each night and rarely see anyone out on their own working on pitching, fielding or hitting.  That is what it takes, if you really want your kid to be one that plays, work with them on your own.  If you are unwilling to work with them a few nights a week all year, you are NOT serious about them becoming a good player.  Stop Typing ..... Start throwing.

1)  Change the tryouts.  Get local independent evaluators (HS baseball coaches/college players) to evaluate the players at tryouts and determine the team.

2) Prospective coaches should apply for the position of head coach - then select his own assistant coach once selected.  The board should solicit the HS coaches for input on selection.

3) Limit the number of coaches in the dugout.  Parents can be volunteers at practices and not be "coaches".

4) Then let the kids play.

This is a very political sport.  Most people grow up WATCHING baseball and think they are the experts.

Changing team and coach selection and limiting the number of coaches will be as difficult to change as the PA legislators limiting their term limits and pension plans.  Board members need to keep the kids best interests at heats just as the legislature should keep the taxpayers best interests at heart.

So, do you really think it will happen?

Sorry, lil' o me doesn't know about the PIAA teams and how they are classified. Do you think I am really that stupid? Normally, you do play teams outside of your ranking, whether you are A, AA, AAA or quad A....I am not as stupid as you may think. Just check the HS and MS schedules. We play the area Berks teams that are not AA. And we beat them. This young team can beat those teams. I never said they lose because they couldn't beat them.
Now to touch on my sporting background. I ran track in JR high school. I was working since I was 15 years old, so I chose that instead of sports in HS. Does that make me a bad person? So I have played a sport in my life. As for my 3 children; they are not superstars in the sports that they chose to participate in, I never stated they were.
I am not perfect, no one walking this earth is.
See you at the tournament this weekend, I will be the one wearing the crown on my head. How's that for being an ass?

Not everyone has a backyard suitable for playing baseball. But you wouldn't be bright enough to understand that. If there are soooo many public fields available why don't you list them for the folks that don't have a clue rather than just bashing people. Try being useful instead of useless. It might be a stretch for someone like yourself but come on give it a try...you can do it.

There are plenty of places right in Topton to practice. You can go to the high school or middle school baseball or softball fields, as well as the little league field or softball field near the pool. You can also head out to Longswamp and use any of the three fields there.  I have used all of these fields during my time as a brandywine baseball player, and there have been zero issues. I'm not sure where these trespassing claims are based.

I'll do one better dolt.  Heres a list of the public parks you can go out to in berks counties.  Ill even do one better for you and give you DIRECTIONS!

Red Bridge Recreation Area
Located on Tulpehocken Rd., Spring Twp. From Rte. 222 & Broadcasting Rd., turn towards Penn State-Berks Campus.  At Tulpehocken Rd. stop sign, turn left.  Park entrance approx. 1/2 mile on right.

Stonecliffe Recreation Area
Located on Columbia St., Reading. From Rte 183, turn onto Columbia St. At T-intersection, turn left onto Butler St. Follow curve to end of street.

Youth Recreation Facility
From Rte. 183 and Rte. 222 intersection: Rte. 183 N. to traffic light at West Leesport Rd. Turn left onto West Leesport Rd. Follow to stop sign. Turn right onto County Rd. Approx. .4 mile, turn left into facility at barn. Follow drive past barn (on left) to parking area.

To The Berks County Fields from the East:

  • From the east - PA Turnpike West to Exit 298 (Morgantown Exit) to Rt. 176 North. Continue for 11 miles to Exit 4B "Reading-Pottsville West 422"; take this exit and continue for approximately 4 miles to Rt 222 North. Stay on Rt 222 North for approximately 4 more miles to the Bernville Rd-Reading Airport Exit (Rt 183). At the end of the ramp, turn left at the traffic light (Rt 183 North). Proceed 3/4 of a mile to the first traffic light (West Leesport Rd.). Turn left and continue to the stop sign; turn right onto County Line Rd and continue for 0.4 miles. The entrance to the complex is on your left.

To Berks County Fields from the West:

  • From Harrisburg and points west - Follow turnpike east to Exit 286 (Reading Exit) to Route 222 North.  Follow Route 222 North to Route 183 exit.  At the end of the ramp turn left onto Route 183 north. Proceed 3/4 of a mile to the first traffic light (West Leesport Rd.). Turn left and continue to the stop sign; turn right onto County Line Rd and continue for 0.4 miles. The entrance to the complex is on your left.

          or

  • Route 78 to Route 183 South.  Travel through Bernville to first traffic light (West Leesport Rd.). Turn right and continue to the stop sign; turn right onto County Line Rd and continue for 0.4 miles. The entrance to the complex is on your left.

Or heck you can just use the middle school, high school, or local fields anytime someone's not on them as long as its not eagle field since they have a contractual obligation with the business across the street.  The other fields are open to the public unless otherwise stated, and if you are scared you are breaking a law go to any of the numerous public parks in berks county.  I am sure you may be able to find some throwing room there :).

If the schools fields are considered public fields why isn't the parking lot considered a public parking lot? If the fields are public then the parking lot is too and we shouldn't be charging students 25 bucks to park in a public lot. So we rip off the students 25 bucks to PARK on a lot which creates no damage, yet we will let anyone go on the fields and depending on the fields conditions at the time, it may create damage to them, which we as taxpayers wind up having to pay to fix and maintain them. What a rip-off.

Let me get this straight, its OK to bash the coach who gave a whole summer to your child and the team, but now that someone threw it back in your face you get upset?

Did the truth sting a little?

Being able to say whatever you want and being able to not give a name, or even worse, use someone elses name doesnt seem so safe anymore does it?  Funny how someone turns the table and NOW you want to post your name.

All you posting in anonymity should remember that everyone has that super power on this site.  Be careful that when decent people get fed up, they may use your own underhanded, cowardly, untruthful ways against you.

There was a time when parents like those complaining on this site were shunned.  Now they get an audience.  You wonder why kids are the way they are.  Grow up, so you can set an example for your child.

I'll come watch the team in the tournament, wherever it may be.

On second thought, its too hot.  I think I'll just stay home.  If all your children are as good as you say they are, it should be on ESPN, right?

Hey coach, how about installing WiFi under the shade tree at Eagle?  Then the parents could post DURING the game.

I have spent many hours parked in the lot practicing baseball without having to pay.   I believe the fee is ONLY for HIGH SCHOOLl students to drive to school. Probably has something to with offsetting the cost of  the added record keeping and parking ID cards.

If you and your children do not have the mental acuity to know when the field is too wet to paractic on by now, then you should give up the sport of Baseball.  There is just  too much thinking involved in the game for you....

The fields are a bargain.....go enjoy them.

I am not saying a hiring a coach would change anything.  People just need to grow and let the coaches coach and let the kids play ball.  Little league baseball should not all this bickering.  What happen to little league baseball being about fun and developing skills and fundamentals?  Whether its elite ball or not,  it has become overrun by negative stuff like on this site and facebook.  People need to grow up, bite there tongue, and the coaches coach and the kids play.  When the kids get to middle school or high school and the ones that play all the time sit the bench or don't make the team, then these people can say to themselves i knew that would happen.  There is no reason why it has to be brought out on  the internet like this.  Sooner or later, parents are going to want to coach anymore because having to deal with all of this junk.  Bottom line grow up and bite your tongue.  Little league baseball is being ruined by this.

I think the point of all of this is that there are a bunch of people who do not understand baseball complaining about things that are beyond their level of comprehension.  To make up for this, they resort to childish name-calling and stereotyping.

The fact of the matter is, you can't alway get what you want.  You can't play everyone all the time.  You can't get a hit every at-bat and you can't throw a perfect game every outing.  The players play their best, and the coaches do what they believe is best for the team.  No one is out to ruin your child's baseball experience.  I would love to hear suggestions from this group of willing and able coaches that are better than the current staff.

People need to stop complaining and actually take some initiative.  Go outside and practice with your ballplayer.  If this is small task is too much to handle, ask around.  There are plenty of people who do practice that would be glad to help.

This situation is only as difficult as you make it.

So its a public parking lot except for when the district wants to make a few bucks by charging the ridiculous 25 dollar fee. I'll do the paper work and cut out parking tags for half that amount. Perhaps if we would ask for these parking tags back at the end of the year we would not have to continually buy the tags. Aahhh yes that would take more work on the part of the administration and we can't have that. They are already overworked and underpaid or so they would make you believe.

By the way, to all the complaining people....have you ever helped a coach?  Have you ever been there an hour early to get the field ready, have you been at every practice, for reasons other than to spy on how terrible the coach is treating your little baby?  No, you probably drop Johnny off at practice (pick the sport) and go home.  You probably drop Johnny off, wave to the coach who has 50 things to do, and drive off.  Then return 10 minutes before the game and set your extra wide chair up under a tree and play Monday morning quarterback.  As soon as the game is over, you grab Johnnys bag and bitch, bitch, bitch all the way home.

You are miserable people who cant stand yourself so much you need to try to bring everyone else down to your level.  Do some push ups, go on a diet, get some plastic surgery, try meditation, find a new spouse, whatever, but please do something to improve your self esteem.

Hey stop at the Club, I'll buy you a beer.

Idiot.  Do you really think anyone at Mertztown can write this many words?  I do not hang out there.  But why do you care......oh thats right, you have no friends.  Well, I hear memberships are cheap, and I hear it will improve your childs chances of making the (pick a sport) team.

Idiot.  Miserable idiot.

OK, start proving my point........

If you think he is "the man" then your standards are pretty low.

A man leads by example and does not have to berate those around him to make his point.  A man doesn't need to concern or defend himself when it comes to idle gossip, he recognises it for what it is.  A man holds his head up high and rises above the nonsense.

That, my friend, is a man.

Actually, I do exist.  "I type, therefore I am".

I am not a coach, not for Brandywine baseball, soccer, wrestling, basketball, field hockey, softball, swimming, archery, badminton or thumb wrestling.  I only coach competetive internet bashing.  I would recommend you join my team, but you seem ready to go pro.  Perhaps you and your child could be drafted in the same year.

A man, as I am, typically does not berate others.  But a MAN does stand up for principles, and not allow idiots to trash what they know to be true.

These are truths:

1.You are an idiot.  How do you know if I meant 'you'?  If you are thinking of rebutting my message, I meant you.

2. 95% of all coaches are in it for the right reason.  They certainly are not perfect, but mean well.

3. 25% of all parents are, well, see #1.  Unfortunately, they make 100% of the noise.

4.  Kids were better athletes before this web site.

5.  If you are on this site trashing a dedicated youth coach, or even worse, a CHILD, you need to look at #1.  You clearly have personal issues.

6.  I dont work at Deka, nor do I drink at the 'Club', but both sound pretty good to me if that means I get more time to work with my child and it helps them onto a team.

7.  At most youth sports, the biggest mouth usually has the widest seat.

Get over it, your child just isnt the 'BEST' at everything.  Most of these kids will not play college ball, likely none will make the bigs.  They probably would have had a great summer, if not for listening to your whining.

Can we please just move on?  I'm ready to defend soccer registration deadlines, or their bank account.  Maybe you have a new beef with them this year?  We have new coaches in soccer and basketball at the school this year, can we drag them through the mud?

On second thought, I'll just keep knocking your square peg through the round hole.

If sports are so bad, and clearly the education isnt that good either(if you are a product), why do you stay in this district?  Stop complaining and do something.  Other than typing on a web site.

Gotta go, ESPN's top 10 plays is coming on, I'll watch for anyone wearing a silver 'B' on their hat......

Yes, the Blast coach has already scarred off quite a few talented kids, and thats so any boy that might be a challenge to his kid or his friends kid will be gone by high school! We thought this coach would be different, but it was quickly apparent to us that some of the boys were just extra bodies in case of an emergency and there was no place for them on his team, even though they were just as good as most of the others!

Our kids just played inhouse ball and that was ok, because at least they got to play ball. I think all of us that went through that agonizing summer with that Blast coach knew that that team could have been better with some of the boys from that year on it! Too many boys that are talented enough to be on these elite teams are finding out too soon of the politics of sports! They just want be be on a team with their friends and if was done fairly, they would.
Some of you will say then practice with your kid and he'll get better, which is true, but it will not change his position in the pecking order! Many of us have done just that and it does no good, these teams are already picked before the first kid trys out! I know this for a fact ,because this coach used to tell me his lineup long before the kids laced up their spikes for evaluations. there was no room for the kid that improved his skills and would knock one of their kids off of the team,God forbid that might happen!!!

Unfortunately, this will never go away and you will be stuck with him for at least  two more years!
Unless he weezles his way into higher positions in the district.

Invisible Man....

Which part of you is invisible?  Your spelling?  Your grammar?  Your intelligence?  Those do all seem to be difficult to see.

The only parts that are clearly visible are your bitterness, your lies and your vivid imagination.

Just let me try to follow your logic train that left the tracks with your first line.....

So the coach had his lineup done before the season, scratch that, before tryouts happened??  I am sure he had the four best batters he could think of in his top four.  But he only has one kid.  What if one of them would have hit better than his child?  He clearly would not have tolerated that.  So why did he pick these top four?  in fact, by your logic, he would have chosen all players worse than his son, and the sons of his coaches.  This would put at least 8 weaker players on the team, especially since we have established that those 4kids only made the team because their dad works at Deka, drinks at the club and coaches, NOT because of talent.

Clearly this team must have been BAD.  But he took them to 3rd in the League.

Thank you Invisible Man for proving how good this year's coach was.  Thank goodness he is coming back for 2 more years!!

You should have used "Visible Idiot".

Drat, my plot has been foiled by the Legion of Doom, Berks County chapter.  They know my secret....

My name is not Robert Hanssen.  I feel better getting that off my chest.  As if I was going to post my real name to any of the lowlife on this site.  Perhaps Google would shed some light.  And if you think real hard about it, you just might understand.....

Here is some honest information:

I am not "one of the boys".  I do not have a child in BYBA, BGSL, TSC or the Torpedoes.  I am not related to any of these players either.

I am simply here out of boredom, and to screw with the minds of those swimming in the shallow end of the gene pool.

While some of you may say that this proves I have no life, imagine the sad state of existence that the person who contacted "higher ups" has.  I wonder if he checked if there was anyone named homie 40oz in Berks?

Wow.  Sad.

To all the haters out there....the team is heading to Cooperstown to have a fun week.  The boys hope to do really well but when you are up against teams that fly their extra pitchers in the Blast falls a little short. But , it is the experience and the memories these boys are creating! Once again these boys have worked really hard this year, had a lot of fun, and won a lot of games!  The coaches have put in extra time while people sit on their computers and complain.  It is a shame people in our community have to be so negative....if you don't like it here sell your house and move on!!!  Our son had great year and we are not even close to be part of the gang he is just a good player and loves the game!
